Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles has so much to give to visitors coming in winter. Sunny days, studio tours, excellent beaches and restaurants, plus tons of different neighbourhoods to explore. Spend some time wandering Downtown LA, visit Santa Monica and its famous pier, and head to north LA to experience Malibu’s beautiful landscape. Check out our favorite Malibu hikes, too! The average temperature in January is in the mid-60s, so you certainly won’t be freezing during your winter LA visit.

Palm Springs, California

Winter is arguably the best time to visit Palm Springs. While many destinations calm down during the winter months, it’s the opposite for Palm Springs. But don’t come with a jampacked schedule, enjoy the relaxed mentality instead. With near perfect weather, endless shopping, and incredible scenery, Palm Springs is a great warm winter destination. You’ll also be just a short drive from parks like Joshua Tree National Park and under two hours from LA.

Phoenix, Arizona

If you’re really looking for sunshine, head to Phoenix to experience to Sonoran Desert! It rarely rains and you’ll be welcomed with warm days in the high 60s. There’s so much scenery to enjoy in and around Phoenix and winter is basically code for “hiking season”, so outdoorsy lovers will be right at home.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a territory of the US, meaning Americans can travel there passport free. Sweet! Puerto Rico is also a fantastic warm weather destination because it’s only a short flight from the US and boasts 80-degree weather all year long. Not to mention San Juan, the capital, is a colorful city full of cobbled stoned streets, live music, and a buzzing nightlife scene. Spend days at the beach soaking up the warm sun and evenings salsa dancing in its world-class discotecas.

New Orleans, Louisiana

It’s not scorching hot as weather is in the mid-60s in winter but that means it’s the perfect temperature for comfortably wandering New Orleans unique city streets. Enjoy fewer crowds, better prices, and you can still enjoy beignets and the famous party scene.

Siesta Key, Florida

The sunshine state is known for its many glorious beaches, but Siesta Key is easily one of the best spots for a relaxed winter vacation at the beach. It’s a lively small town known for its tropical beaches and many would claim that Siesta Key is home to the “world’s finest sand.” You’ll just have to visit to find out if it’s true.
